The CHALLENGE

Clipper needed to optimize its financial performance in a highly competitive market under pressure. Decision-making was not fully data-driven and a degree of silo-thinking in sales (chartering) and operation created in-efficiencies. Top-management lacked full transparency into business-performance.

 

The solution

A pre-analysis identified key business pain points related to processes, people and systems. The value of implementing a new shipping-system was assessed. Outcome of the first phases of the program was increased data-transparency and more efficient and data-driven decision making. This was supported by implementation of a new core-shipping system and a new finance-system. Existing decision-structures i.e. meetings and performance reporting, were revised, and a full vendor-selection process incl. requirement specification, business case and implementation plan was developed.
