Implementing New Growth Strategy &

Interim Management

 

The CHALLENGE

Headed by a new executive leadership team, Toms Group developed an ambitious strategy with primary purpose of increasing profits. Focus was to optimize daily operations to improve productivity and profitability e.g. by removing complexities in the supply-chain. The increased financial flexibility this would bring was channeled towards needed investments supporting top-line growth. Largest strategic priority and challenge was to design and build a brand new factory in Poland to drive down operational complexities and cost.

 

The solution

A structured approach was taken to secure effective strategy execution through design and management of all strategic work-streams together with the management team. This included establishing a transparent overview of the strategic roadmap; defining and ensuring ownership of KPIs for all must-win-battles; establishing baseline and methodology for measuring and following up on target-realization; and providing board of directors with detailed decision-bases. Further, a new strategy execution office (SEO) was established with tools and processes to support top-management in keeping focus on sustainable value-realization for the coming years.

After completion of above, I was given the overall responsibility for the largest investment in Toms’ history namely establishing a new factory in Poland. Designing all workstreams and being overall responsible for all deliverables as part of management team for 4 years as “interim” until project successfully completed in spring 2020.

Helle has done an outstanding job in supporting us in bringing our strategy into action. By creating a very strong and practical governance and reporting structure, we have increased our momentum in the execution of our key strategic projects and activities. This has been achieved also as a result of Helle's capability of bringing the management team as well as key players in our organization onboard. Her winning personality combined with the drive for results have been keys to the successful traction of our strategy.
